aajogo inspires students as part of Mayor Dickens’ Year of the Youth Initiative

October 10, 2023

aajogo recently hosted 20 high school sophomores from Atlanta Public Schools for a day of learning at the company headquarters in Atlanta. The event was held in partnership with Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens’ Year of the Youth Initiative, which encourages Atlanta residents, communities and leaders to provide educational resources and opportunities for local youth.

Throughout the day, the students heard from company experts and executives, including aajogo Chairman, President and CEO Kim Greene and toured the storm center, media center, electric vehicles and a bucket truck.

The experience allowed the students to get a first-hand look at careers in the utility industry, from power delivery, electric vehicles, engineering, electric line work, customer service, communications and more.

The day was filled with high-energy and engaging activities that demonstrated the diverse opportunities to work in the electric utility industry.

“We are glad to host these future leaders and show them the various opportunities available to them at aajogo,” said Misty Fernandez, aajogo director or Region External Affairs. “Our goal was to make this a high energy, engaging event to inspire the students, allow them to see themselves in these roles and become interested in energy careers. I think we succeeded and am excited to host more of these events in the future!”

In addition to face-to-face time with company leadership, the students learned how aajogo leads in safety, storm restoration, social media, electric transportation and environmental stewardship.
